The Youth Entrepreneurship Programme is one of the major programmes run by CadifKenya.
The YEP is anew that is targeted at youths between the ages of sixteen and thirty (16-35).
We hope to expand this training to other universities and tertiary institutions
within Kenya and eventually other countries in Africa in the forth coming months and years.
The YEP programme lasts for a period of 6 weeks in which participants are taught
twenty courses core to entrepreneurial success.
We apply a very practical approach. The participants have to do a lot of course
work in order to graduate. Participants have to form groups, learn to work in
teams and develop investor-ready business plans. Most of the training is done
in the form of assignments.
We ensure that our participants fully understand what they are taught and
hence the reason for paying critical attention on continuous assessment.
Participants are also encouraged to network and get to know one another.
This has proven very effective in the past as it has lead to partnerships amongst
participants. One pair of trainees formed a campus laundry business together.
One partner was a very aggressive salesman while the other was skilled as an
administrator. This is just an example of why we place so much emphasis on
participants networking.
The courses we offer are as follows:
Business Plan Development (five modules)
Strategic Marketing
Book-keeping and Introduction to financial statements
The Youth Entrepreneurship Programme has many benefits for participants, namely:
Generate income from running their own business
Obtain funding for their business
Learn to develop a winning, investor-ready business plan
Acquire excellent skills at rock bottom prices
Learn how to sell effectively
Discover the secrets of result-oriented marketing
Negotiate like a professional
Seize networking opportunities to forge relationships for life
Learn from successful entrepreneurs
Learn proven financial management principles that actually work
The programme theme is 'equipping participants with the entrepreneurial
skills to enable them build sustainable and profitable businesses'.
The objectives of the programme are to 'present, discuss and teach participants
necessary skills for succeeding in business in Kenya while providing opportunities
for accessing micro credit' and mentoring.
