The Community Entrepreneurship Programme (CEP) is one of the major programmes run CadifKenya. It is organized for serving members of the community and its based on volunteers effort. The only significant difference between this programme and the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP) is the target audience.

The Community Entrepreneurship Programme (CEP) is a collaboration effort with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Kenya a programme designed to equip youth members with the necessary skills to succeed in business.

The pilot phase of this programme (which covers only Nyanza province) is currently running. We hope to expand this training to other provinces throughout Kenya in the forth coming months and years.

The CEP programme lasts for a period of 3 months in which participants are taught twenty courses core to entrepreneurial success.

We apply a very practical approach. The participants have to do a lot of course work in order to graduate. Participants have to form groups, learn to work in teams and develop investor-ready business plans. Most of the training is done in the form of assignments. We ensure that our participants fully understand what they are taught and hence the reason for paying critical attention on continuous assessment.

Participants are also encouraged to network and get to know one another. This has proven very effective in the past as it has lead to partnerships amongst participants. One pair of trainees formed a catering outfit together. Both were good at cooking while one was an exceptional saleswoman. This is just an example of why we place so much emphasis on participants networking.

The courses we offer are as follows:
  • Business Plan Development (five modules)
  • Strategic Marketing
  • Book-keeping and Introduction to financial statements
  • Negotiating Effectively
  • Selling skills development
  • Presenting effectively
  • Presenting your business plan
  • Financing your business
  • Business Concept Development
  • Proposal Writing
  • Business Ethics
  • Mentoring
  • A-Z of starting a business
  • Government Registration/Government Control
  • Legal considerations for SMEs
  • Financial management
  • Team Building
  • Community Development
  • Investing Basic (shares, mutual funds, bonds, treasury bills etc)
  • ICT Appreciation

The Community Entrepreneurship Programme has many benefits for participants, namely:
  • Generate income from running their own business

  • Learn how to sell effectively
  • Discover the secrets of result-oriented marketing
  • Negotiate like a professional
  • Seize networking opportunities to forge relationships for life

The programme theme is 'equipping participants with the entrepreneurial skills to enable them build sustainable and profitable businesses'.
